Attorney as a profession, Jorge studied at the Wharton Business School and founded ALTO in 2005 in Puerto Varas (Patagonia, Chile) while he was serving as the city’s Head of Legal Department. ALTO’s initial focus was to reduce crime in small cities, attacking robberies and shoplifting. In 2010, after working in the Manhattan Institute in New York, Jorge served as Vice Minister of Homeland Security of Chile, where he applied his recidivist crime reduction model from a public perspective, achieving excellent results. Jorge is Co-Founder of the Chilean Entrepreneur Association (ASECH), and the Latin America Entrepreneur Association (ASELA), that connects more than 50,000 member entrepreneurs. Nazer has been recognized with various awards in the entrepreneurship world, among them the 2014 Year Entrepreneur (Ernst & Young & El Mercurio) and the 2014 Chile’s Entrepreneurship Award, Avonni. He has been interviewed by several publications about public safety matters and has spoken on the topic in various seminars in Chile, Colombia and Mexico. In 2014 he was elected as Director of the Endeavor Network. Throughout the years, Jorge has turned ALTO into a multi-national company, now growing exponentially with more than 100 clients in Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Chile, and the United States. ALTO has recently rebranded as Grupo ALTO (ALTO Group), a holding company that owns several companies which work together for the same goal: working with their clients and law enforcement to reduce recidivist crime in the communities they serve.
Karl F. Langhorst

Karl F. Langhorst, CPP, CFI, serves as Executive Vice President of ALTO U.S. and Vice President of Grupo ALTO. He retired as Corporate Director Loss Prevention, The Kroger Co. in 2016. In this role, Karl had oversight of the loss program development and operations for a Fortune 25 company consisting of over 6,000 locations including multi-department stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores, fuel centers, jewelry stores, manufacturing facilities and distribution centers. Prior to his tenure with Kroger, Karl served as the Director, Loss Prevention for Randall’s & Tom Thumb Food stores, a Safeway company. He is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), and the ASIS Retail Council. Karl also served on the National Retail Federation Loss Prevention committee and the Editorial Advisory Board for LP Magazine. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University. An author, frequent speaker, and nationally recognized subject matter expert on various loss prevention topics including physical security and organized retail crime, he is board certified in security management by ASIS and as a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) by the Center for Interviewer Standards & Assessments. Prior to his career in retail loss prevention, Karl served in multiple roles in law enforcement for twenty-five years in Dallas, TX.
VP Supply Chain Security & Intelligence
Maurizio currently is Vice President of ALTO US. He has over 25 years of experience within the disciplines of asset protection, risk management and supply chain. He has held various senior leadership positions with Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, De’Longhi and more notably Verisk Analytics, where he was the Co-Founder and President of CargoNet, a supply chain risk management company. Maurizio has written articles for international publications and has also spoken in the field of supply chain & supply chain security for many North American trade associations. He has and continues to contribute to various non-profit boards. He is accredited as a Certified Cargo Security Professional (CCSP) by the American Trucking Association and Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) by the Loss Prevention Foundation. Scrofani received his degrees and certifications from William Paterson University and Penn State University. During his down time, he gives back as an adjunct professor teaching Supply Chain Management at William Paterson University.
Cristián López is the Country Leader for ALTO US. He has extensive business experience in the Chilean Government and private sector, developing and leading start-up entrepreneurial ventures. As Operations Manager for Start-Up Chile, López assisted over 300 entrepreneurs from around the world to successfully integrate their ideas into the country. In addition, he served as Executive Director of the Chilean Entrepreneur Association (ASECH) and grew that membership to 23,000 members. López obtained a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Catholic University of Chile and has been recognized by two leading Chilean business publications as one of the “100 most successful young leaders” in the country.
Chief Technology Officer
Edgar Escobar joined ALTO as the Chief Technology Officer in 2017. Previous to joining ALTO, Escobar served as VP Analytics & Business Development in Central & South America as well as principal member of the Analytics Global Counsel for Experian. Escobar has utilized his technology expertise in project development throughout Latin America as well as in Europe and Oceania. In the past years Escobar has participated in several Events in North/Central and South America to share his experience in Big Data and Innovation. His experience in the Data Science environment has allowed him to design, develop and execute different risk management solutions in a wide range of business verticals for the main Banks, Retail, Telecoms companies as well as other data-related industries in the Central & South American region. Escobar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia as well as two Master Degrees in Economics and Applied Risk Finance from Macquarie University, Australia.
Director of Supply Chain Support
Yulin is the Director of Supply Chain Support of ALTO US. Before joining ALTO US, Mr. Huang served as a Planner at Harmon Face Value Inc., a Bed Bath & Beyond company in 2016. In prior roles, he was Project Manager at Verisk Analytics Inc. provided and directly reported to the company’s Group Executive, Supply Chain Risk Solutions recommendations regarding investments, including potential acquisitions, mergers and strategic alliance, aligned with Verisk Analytics’ comprehensive supply chain business strategy. Earlier in his career, Mr. Huang was one of the founding members of CargoNet, a family company of Verisk Analytics Inc. Mr. Huang has MBA in Supply Chain Management and Finance from Rutgers Business School and M.S. Management of Technology from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Mr. Huang received his B.A. Scientific English from Dalian University of Technology and now serves on the board of its worldwide Alumni Association, registered under Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. He is an outdoor sportsman, serving on the board of Chinese American Hunting and Fishing Association.
West Coast Regional Director of Operations
Sharrel Daniel is driving the success of the ALTO Alliance team on the west coast as the West Coast Regional Director of Operations. Sharrel’s career encompasses high-level strategic management roles in big box retailers to Regional Shopping Centers. As a retail operations expert, Sharrel previously served as the Regional Director of Operations for The Taubman Company, which owns and manages 27 regional, super-regional and outlet shopping centers in the U.S. and Asia. Sharrel was responsible for overseeing their Beverly Center property in California. Sharrel brings a balanced approach to developing a dynamic team while creating and executing a successful strategy. Sharrel is a strategic servant leader who believes in strength-based leadership and the “H-Factor” as he calls it, or the “human factor” believing that “When you care for your team genuinely, they will care what you care! This approach exponentially increases the productivity, passion, and the drive of all team members whether directly or indirectly”. Sharrel has won numerous awards throughout his career and recently has been recognized with the Al Taubman Innovation Award for introducing and implementing the “One Team, One Vision walks” and “Achieving Excellence Mentorship Program” at the Taubman Company. Prior to his experience at Taubman, Sharrel also served as Senior Director of Operations at PLS Financial Services where he was responsible for 73 stores and over 1,100 team members that generated over $120M in revenue. As the Operations Leader at Target Corporation, Sharrel had the honor of being chosen to develop and implement new practices to effectively introduce companywide Price Change Verification processes Sharrel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with double majors from the University of Staffordshire, UK. He also enjoys investing his time in youth and education, and has coached gold-winning Science Olympiad teams.
